Fear of Love and Love of Fear are both Within the Windy City... David Callaway, a graduate of Princeton College and a young writer, is forced to move both his life and career from New York City to Chicago, Illinois, at the height of the roaring 20s, in 1925. Distressed, downcast, and bitter, Callaway dreams up an idea to reinvigorate his dying career as a journalist. A one-on-one interview with the man who everyone in the nation is talking about: the charming mobster, the one and only, Al Capone. He discovers a connection to Capone in Katherine Small is a young, aspiring actress who lives in the slums of downtown Chicago, where she desires so much more. When seeing a show one night, she and Callaway's paths cross, and it seems, they are both the answer to each other's prayers, a way out of the disappointments of their careers, and a way in to the easy-going lifestyle of celebrity status. However, when the mob begins to suspect that Katherine may be conspiring with Callaway, revealing the dark side of the mob's activities, they begin to see Callaway as a threat, and as such, will do anything to make sure he doesn't learn too much. Add on the fact that Katherine's intentions with Callaway have spiraled to become less than simply platonic, and a devastatingly twisted and terrifying love triangle begins to form between David Callaway, Katherine Small, and the most powerful man in Chicago. It seems they are cornered, with no escape, with corruption even reaching into law enforcement and the people they feel that they can trust. In this heart-pounding, suspense-filled thriller, worlds collide, dreams come true, hearts break, and, in the end, Callaway is forced to choose between his own fame, and exposing a crime syndicate. The kicker: either option will force him to stand face-to-face with the most infamous mobster in Chicago...Al Capone
